Privacy policy
Scrum Tools is run by Sarnia LLC. This page explains what the site stores, what Google Analytics collects, and what you can do about it.

Your plans stay on your device
There are no accounts, and we don't run a database. What you type into the velocity planner, such as names, days off and points, is kept in two places:
- Your browser's local storage, so the plan is still there next time you visit. It stays on your device and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
- The page address, so you can share the plan with a link. Anyone you send the link to can see what's in it, and it may be kept in browser history.
The name wheel works the same way: its names are saved in your browser and in its share link. The wheel keeps them after the # in the link, which browsers don't send to our server.
We don't collect or keep your plans. Because a shared plan is part of the page address, though, that address goes wherever page addresses normally go: to our hosting provider when the page loads, and to Google Analytics, which records the address of each page viewed. Leave out anything you wouldn't want shared, such as reasons for time off.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to see how many people use the site and which pages they visit. It uses cookies to tell visits apart, and collects things like the pages you view, how you arrived, your approximate location (from your IP address) and your device and browser type. We don't use it to identify you or for advertising.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland don't get Google Analytics cookies unless they agree to them in the consent message described below. Until then, Google receives only basic, cookieless signals about page visits.
Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services, or opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Book recommendations and affiliate links
The "Worth reading" list links to books on Bookshop.org, an online bookstore that supports independent bookshops. These are affiliate links: if you buy a book within 48 hours of clicking one, Scrum Tools earns a commission, at no extra cost to you. Bookshop.org records the referral using its own cookies, under Bookshop.org's privacy notice.
Your choice of book topic is remembered in your browser so the list opens on it next time.
Advertising
Scrum Tools shows ads from Google AdSense, which help keep the tools free. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technology to show these ads, to limit how often you see the same one, to measure how they perform, and to fight fraud. Based on your visits to Scrum Tools and other sites, Google may show you personalized ads.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland see a consent message from Google first and can choose whether to allow these cookies and personalized ads. You can change that choice at any time with the privacy settings link Google shows on the page.
Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and how Google uses cookies in advertising.
Services that load in your browser
To display the page, your browser fetches fonts from Google Fonts and code from public content networks (the Tailwind CSS and jsDelivr CDNs). Like any website, these services receive your IP address and basic browser details when your browser asks for the files.
Hosting
Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time, to keep the site running and secure.
Children
Scrum Tools is meant for people working on software teams. It isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices
- Clear the planner's saved data by clearing site data for Scrum Tools in your browser.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
- Opt out of Google Analytics with the opt-out add-on.
- Turn off personalized ads from Google in Google's Ad Settings, or from many ad companies at once at aboutads.info (or youronlinechoices.eu in Europe).
Changes
If we change how the site handles data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
